We're
proud of the great effort and care we take to ensure
disease-free seed potatoes at West Edmonton
Seed Potatoes.
The
pH of our soil, averaging 6.7, is too acidic for Scab.
The incidence of Rhizoctonia is extremely low. All
greenhouse-grown stock is free of this black scurf.
In addition, we plant our seed shallow to better utilize
the warmth of the sun and reduce the likelihood of
Rhizoctonia. We have never seen Erwinia Carotovora
(Black Leg) on our farm.
Agriculture
Canada experts check our farm two times each growing
season doing a visual plant inspection for foreigners
and viruses. If you would like us to fax you a copy
of any of the field readings, please let us know.
The
results shown below were received in January 2004,
from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The results
are visual readings from the post-harvest seed potato
test plots in Hawaii and are an industry standard
measure for potato health and quality.
These
results have been edited to fit in this space, but
all results related to virus counts are reproduced
here, and all the potatoes tested are listed here.
If
you'd like us to fax you a copy of the actual letter
let us
know. For a list of potato classes used
